Sussex Authority proposes ban on inshore trawling to help kelp forest recover
A bylaw which will see trawling excluded from a 117 square mile area of Sussex coastline to allow the recovery of kelp forests has been propsed. It follows an MCS-supported campaign ‘Help our Kelp’ that was also backed by Sir David Attenborough.

David Bellamy became a household name as a TV personality, scientist and conservationist and was among a group of divers who founded what was to become the Marine Conservation Society in the 1970's, playing a huge part in getting marine conservation on the map of the UK.
Grey seal chewing glass bottle strengthens need for 'all-in' Deposit Return Scheme
Nature photographer Dan Thurling has captured upsetting images of a grey seal pup chewing on a glass Starbucks bottle. The pictures were taken in Donna Nook nature reserve in Lincolnshire, the area is home to one of the UK’s largest breeding colonies of grey seals.
The results are in for this year's Great British Beach Clean
This year’s Great British Beach Clean (20-23rd September 2019), saw 437 beach cleans and litter surveys take place, with over 10,800 volunteers getting involved who removed 10,833kg of litter from the UK’s beaches. That's almost 11 tonnes of litter in one weekend alone!
